Buildings

I don’t usually photograph buildings, but I’m moving to another city for the summer (or indefinitely if things go well) and the town where I presently live does have some nice architecture, so I wanted to document it. Hopefully I will have time to shoot some more of it before I leave.

Bird of the day

I have been gone for ages, during this time I finished my Masters, which is a big relief. I have now entered into the world of work and will hopefully have more sparetime for photography. I’m still into forests and animals, particulary birds, as you can see. This was actually the only shot I got today. There were lots of joggers out and the birds were shy so I’m glad it turned out ok.

Walking in the woods

I went for a walk in the woods this evening, with my camera. I love having a forest nearby, to go jogging or walking in. If I’m in a bad mood I try to prioritize it, it’s one of my life saviours.

Boats

Last weekend I went to visit my parents and we took a stroll down the harbour.

It looks kinda tempting doesn’t it?

Here’s one Sepia toned. Old cars and boats often look good in B/W or Sepia I think. Gives a bit of that vintage feel to it.

Ordinary objects

I went for a walk in my neighbourhood today, wanting to be creative with my camera. I came across a big beautiful tree in a field. However, it didn’t quite make a good photograph so I changed my perspective and went in really close instead. I stood under the tree and pointed my camera up to the sky, as you can see focusing on some branches. I think composition is so important for a photograph, as it can make ordinary things look much more interesting. Playing around with light can be helpful too, I don’t mind using a bit unusual light sources, as long as it compliments the image.

Heron again

I went back to find the heron today, in the same location as a few days ago. I brought my telephoto lens so I managed to get a closer look, although the bird was a bit further back today and there is water and railings between us so I couldn’t get closer than this. I had some camera shake so the shots didn’t come out completely sharp. I’ll bring my tripod next time, the telephoto lens makes the camera a bit heavy to hold steady. It’s a pretty cool bird though, glad I found it.
